A Rhode Island town council is considering a proposal for a 46,000 panel solar farm. The Hopkinton Town Council is having a hearing tonight on what would be the largest solar energy project in the region. The solar farm would produce 18 megawatts of power on a 60-acre plot of land.
Frank Landolfi, the President of the Town Council, said that the solar farm could bring in more than $200,000 in tax revenue. Barring any major issues, he supports the project.
“This energy is really good because any opportunity to expand the revenue base of our town, I’m all for it, as long as it’s not detrimental to the town.”
The solar farm would be near Route 91, out of sight from the road. The hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Hopkinton Town Hall.
