Today Senator Jack Reed met with Rhode Islanders at the US Federal District Court to discuss his resistance to upcoming Trump policies. Many people at the meeting were concerned about President Donald Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court, Judge Neil Gorsuch. When the crowd urged him to not consider Gorsuch, Senator Reed cited the need for maintaining regular procedure in the consideration. Despite this, he does think that process should be extensive. “We have exercised our right to take our time appropriately with all these nominees. It gives us time to build up opposition from our part on the other side,” Reed said. In a statement, Reed said that Gorsuch’s record suggests that he could impose constraints on civil liberties, women’s rights, and could roll back environmental regulations.
