The number of Rhode Islanders supporting legalization is higher since the election.

Director of Regulate Rhode Island Jared Moffat said that now is the time to legalize, especially since Massachusetts voted to legalize last November. “If Rhode Island doesn’t move forward and set up their own system, then basically Rhode Islanders are gonna take their money and spend it in Massachusetts,” Moffat said. “So people here are gonna have access, but we’re not gonna get any of the financial benefits.” The Adult Use of Cannabis Act, which would legalize recreational marijuana in Rhode Island, was introduced this week in both chambers of the General Assembly.
