Rhode Island police say they’re still searching for suspects who attacked a woman while wearing clown masks last week.
This incident in Providence is part of a national clown epidemic over the past few months. CNN reports that across the country, people dressed as creepy crowns have been terrorizing citizens and allegedly luring children in to the woods. The epidemic has heightened during this Halloween season.
Providence resident Eleanor Walsh says that the clown sightings seem weird to her.
“I’ve always been weary about clowns, I think my generation has always grown up with the kind of idea that clowns are supposed to be fun, but are actually scary.”
The attack last week is the only clown sighting Rhode Island has experienced during this recent national surge.
