Ontologics is a band out of Providence that, with just two people, manages to fill the space to brimming: with guitar, vocals, a giant drum kit, drum pad, and an array of electronics, they’ve got a little bit of everything–even some sitar samples! The pair balances their full act with excellent stage presence. The diversity of their instrumentation reflects their mix of influences. They rap, they rip on guitar, and they dive into experiments of all sorts. Ontologics’ approach is prog rock with a 21st centuryt twist. Check out the video of their second song, Modern Revisionist, to see lead vocalist Ian Campopiano rapping and jumping around the studio before breaking into a killer solo as drummer Matthew Walshe holds down the beat. Their latest album, Drones from Home, has been one of our favorite new albums since it came out in November. Check them out on their website or at the Met on January 9th! And, of course, don’t miss our live session, filmed in house, below.
