HEADLINES OF THE WEEK
1. Foo Fighters close Letterman’s Late Show
David Letterman finished his 33-year run as the host of the Late Show last night and the Foo Fighters were his last musical guest. They played “Everlong,” a song that helped him during his recovery from heart surgery fifteen years ago. You can check out the sentimental performance above.
2. Florence + the Machine share “Delilah”
On Tuesday, Florence + the Machine released another new track from their forthcoming album How Big How Blue How Beautiful. “Delilah” is no less powerful and catchy than the album’s previously released tracks and we’re relieved that we only have to wait two more weeks to hear it in its entirety.
3. Eddie Vedder revamped “Better Man” for Letterman
Letterman’s last week as host of the Late Show was full of great musical guests and for his third-to-last show, Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder played a revamped version of “Better Man” with support from Paul Shaffer and his band.
4. Coldplay made a Game of Thrones musical
As part of Red Nose Day, a celebrity-filled fundraising comedy event, Coldplay participated in a quirky 12-minute sketch that chronicles the band’s “attempt” to create a Game of Thrones musical. So if you can’t quite wait until Sunday for a new Game of Thrones episode, hopefully this will help.
5. Tame Impala release video for “‘Cause I’m a Man”
Boston Calling performers Tame Impala released the 3D-animated music video for their introspective track “‘Cause I’m a Man” on Thursday. “‘Cause I’m a Man” will be on their upcoming album Currents, out July 17.
