After seeing The Sage Project play a last-minute show here in Providence a few weeks ago, Home Bru’d decided to bring them into the studio for a session. Coming together from 6 separate schools, the members of the Sage Project showed us a clean, jazzy acoustic set that showcased the many facets of their sound. Drummer, Sam Palermo syncopated to Hannah’s soulful vocal lines as Sam’s brother, Jack, rhythmically backed everything up on guitar. The vareity of their musical influence is apparent as they play with the simplicity of Lake Street Dive, and yet with all the “jam” of Dave Matthews Band. While there are many new songs The Sage Project have yet to share and the distance between each member means recording sessions and tours are rare, they refuse to dissolve as a band so keep an eye out for them in the coming months.
