The Wrap-Up brings you the 5 largest music news stories of the week as well as information about new album and music video releases.

HEADLINES OF THE WEEK

1. Mumford & Sons announce an electric new album

You probably know Mumford & Sons for their folk-inspired music, but they recently revealed to Rolling Stone that for their upcoming third full-length album, Wilder Mind, “[they] felt that doing the same thing, or the same instrumentation again, just wasn’t for [them].” Consequently, they’ve traded in the banjo, acoustic guitar, and stomping kick drum for electric guitars, synthesizers, drum machines, and mellotrons. Check out the band’s teaser above to get sense of what to expect from Wilder Mind, which comes out on May 4.

2. Modest Mouse release a new track and tour announcement

Although the release date for Strangers to Ourselves has been pushed back to March 17, Modest Mouse has treated us yet again to another new track, “Of Course We Know.” Described as “slow-burning” by Stereogum, we can’t help but certainly agree. And if that wasn’t enough Modest Mouse news for you, they also announced a series of summer tour dates, including a stop at Boston’s Blue Hills Bank Pavilion on July 23. You can get tickets HERE.

3. You can buy Kurt Cobain’s childhood home

Kurt Cobain’s childhood home is on sale again, but this time for $400,000. The house is located in Aberdeen, Washington, where the average home price is actually $300,000 cheaper than the listing. You can check out the full listing here.

4.The Rivers Cuomo character in the Weezer frontman’s sitcom has been cast

In August, it was announced that Fox is creating a sitcom called Detour based on the life of Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo while he studied at Harvard University in the mid-90s. On Wednesday, it was announced that English actor Ben Aldridge, known for starring in the musical production of American Psycho, would star in the show as the Cuomo-inspired character. The actual Rivers Cuomo will work as the show’s producer.

5. Joywave make Kimmel debut

On Monday, Joywave donned all-white ensembles for their debut appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Although “Somebody New” (whose music video was released last week) was the only track shown on air, the Rochester quintet also performed “Tongues.” Joywave’s sharp performances got us reminiscing about their November show at The Met and we certainly can’t wait for the April 21 release of How Do You Feel Now?
