Join WBRU 360 at the Festival!

Join WBRU 360 and the Puerto Rican Cultural Parade and Festival of Rhode Island in celebrating the rich Puerto Rican heritage of Rhode Island this Sunday at the annual Puerto Rican Parade and Festival.  The event will kick off with the yearly parade, leaving from the CVS on Broad Street near Thurbers Avenue.  The parade will travel southeast down Broad Street to the Hawthorne Avenue entrance to Roger Williams Park, where it will continue through the park to the Temple to Music.  Both the parade and festival are free and open to the public. View the map below for the official parade route:   The paraders will arrive at the Temple to Music around 12 p.m. and the festival will begin at that time.  Performances will include singing, dancing, storytelling and much more, and will feature local acts from across Rhode Island.   This year’s festival will continue on the momentum of a very successful 2013 Puerto Rican Parade in New York City’s 5^th Avenue, the largest ethnic pride gathering in the nation.  That parade, which boasted over 1 million spectators and 80,000 marchers, was dedicated to the state of Rhode Island and our entire Puerto Rican community.   WBRU will be at the festival so make sure to stop by our tent for awesome games and prizes!  For more information, visit www.puertoricanri.com.  For specific requests, contact the organization’s President, Vivian Moreno at (401) 415-5563, option 4, or facilitator Bob Cooper at (401) 447-6474.  Enjoy the 2013 Puerto Rican Festival and we’ll see you there!   All photos courtesy of www.puertoricanri.com.
