If you’re like me, and you weren’t at Coachella this past weekend (and won’t be next weekend either), you’re probably pretty annoyed with all the big music blogs and websites. Look at these cool Coachella pictures! Watch your favorite bands perform! Listen to this reunited band play live again! No, no, and no. I refuse to live vicariously though Pitchfork. Luckily, the East Coast has some pretty cool things going for it too. Here’s all the awesome music news that doesn’t have to do with Coachella. In New York City, The Guggenheim Museum’s new music series, Divine Ricochet began this past weekend. The entire series features performers like Zola Jesus, Grouper, and Julianna Barwick playing alongside a private viewing of John Chamberlain: Choices, an exhibit that explores “abstraction, rhythm, harmony, and dissonance.” The Walkmen have released a new single from their new album, Heaven, due out June 5th. The band will be performing at Brown University’s Spring Weekend on April 21. Jack White’s April 27 show at Webster Hall in New York will be streaming live on Youtube at 9pm. I guess I will be living vicariously through that one. PLUS: His solo album, Blunderbuss will be streaming here via iTunes TONIGHT starting at 9pm. And finally, Bruce Springsteen has expanded his tour to include a string of East Coast dates at the end, including three shows in his home state, New Jersey. So don’t fret! Coachella might be awesome, it might have the greatest bands, it might be in beautiful California….but the East Coast rocks too! And you can always watch all the recaps without having to stand around outside and sweat.
