Weep, friends, for one year ago today the White Stripes left us. Forever. Normally “we’re breaking up” only lasts for a few years in the rock world, then there’s a reunion, hugs all around, etc. But Jack’s a man of his word, so I think we’ll have to trust him when he says the Stripes are no more. But that’s not so bad — we’ve still got some great soulful acts like the Ettes, taking full bluesy control. Play it hard, darlings, we need you more than ever.
