The Wrap-Up brings you the 5 largest music news stories of the week as well as information about new album and music video releases.

HEADLINES OF THE WEEK

1. New Hozier video for “Work Song”

In the sixth music video from his self-titled debut album, Hozier performs “Work Song” on stage in an abandoned church full of performers carrying out captivating modern dance routines. The video is just as mesmerizing as the song itself and we couldn’t help but wonder if the direction of the video was inspired by that viral ballet video for “Take Me to Church” that came out last month.

2. More Modest Mouse

After this month’s album release, Modest Mouse isn’t showing any signs of stopping (no more eight year hiatuses here). They have more music coming out next year, or “as quickly as it’s legally allowed to be as legally possible,” according to frontman Isaac Brock. The new album–much of which was recorded at the same time as the most recent drop, Strangers to Ourselves–will be out sometime in 2016. Meanwhile, check out their performance of “Be Brave” on The Late Late Show as the first ever musical guest for new host James Corden. This summer, they’re touring all over the United States, but if you can’t wait for their New England stops, check out our review of Strangers to Ourselves HERE.

3. Florence and the Machine release video for St. Jude

Florence and the Machine released a new music video for St. Jude, off the forthcoming album (expected June 2nd) titled How Big How Blue How Beautiful. She had formerly shared the video for “What Kind of Man.” Pretty cool that she’s letting us hear the music and see the visuals before dropping the album…we can’t help but get our hopes up that she’ll surprise release it early. Wanna see her live? This week, she was announced as a headliner for Osheaga and Lollapalooza, in addition to her previously announced dates at Governor’s Ball and Bonnaroo.

4. Sufjan Stevens is streaming his new album Carrie & Lowell

Although it’s set to arrive on March 31, you can find Sufjan Steven’s new album fittingly on NPR First Listen, where else? According to critics, it’s a folkier album, making it a good listen as we wait for winter to just finally go away already.

5. OK Computer joins the national collection at the Library of Congress

OK Computer, the 1997 album by Radiohead, has been deemed significant enough to join the National Recording Registry. So far, there are only 425 works in the National Recording Registry; only 25 can be added per year and additions are decided by the official Librarian and the National Recording Preservation Board. This is all a lot of complicated acronyms and official-sounding things to say that, essentially, Radiohead’s pretty cool, and apparently the US government agrees. Also added this year were The Doors, Lauryn Hill, and Joan Baez. You can read the official press release (and a very insightful analysis of the album) here.
