The Wrap-Up brings you the 5 largest music news stories of the week as well as information about new album and music video releases.

HEADLINES OF THE WEEK

1. Jack White inducted into the Nashville Walk of Fame

Along with singer-songwriter and collaborator Loretta Lynn, Jack White was inducted into Nashville’s Walk of Fame yesterday. Nashville has been White’s home for almost 10 years and the city also houses the headquarters of his record label, Third Man Records. For being an inductee, White will have his name on a permanent sidewalk fixture that is also adorned with a star and a guitar. Although Nashville has become White’s new home, he is a Detroit native and he announced earlier this week that Third Man Records will open a branch in Detroit’s Cass Corridor neighborhood on Black Friday, 11/27. White said he chose Cass Corridor because it “has always been the most inspiring area of Detroit for me as an artist and as a Detroiter. From the great visual artists like Gordon Newton to the music of the Gories, and the birth of the Detroit garage rock scene, the Corridor has nurtured Detroit’s soul and inventiveness for decades. That spirit pushes forward with Shinola’s passion and will come full circle for the artists of the Corridor that work with Third Man Records to plant a new foundation there to help keep that creative spirit alive for decades to come.”

2. Muse want their new album to be a musical

Muse’s seventh album Drones will be released in America this upcoming Tuesday. Drones is a concept album, which frontman Matthew Bellamy stated “explores the journey of a human, from their abandonment and loss of hope, to their indoctrination by the system to be a human drone, to their eventual defection from their oppressors.” The band shared that they wouldn’t mind making a West End musical version of Drones. Bassist Chris Wolstenholme revealed that the band will focus on the album’s release and tour right now, but added “it would be great to be able to have [Drones] incorporated into some sort of musical or something, you know, it’s not something that we’ve ever done before, it would be very exciting to be a part of it.” Green Day was able to get the musical version of American Idiot onto Broadway in 2010, so we’ll wait and see if Drones has a similar trajectory.

3. Metric release new song

Last month, Metric released their first new song in 3 years, “The Shade.” On Tuesday, they released an electronic new track “Cascade,” which was fittingly accompanied by a video full of neon lights. In the description for the video, shown below, Metric revealed that their new album, Pagans in Vegas, will be released on September 18.
People of Tomorrow, here it is! “Cascades”, the song we consider the pounding heart of our new album, Pagans in Vegas, set for release September 18, 2015. As always, we encourage you to sing along with the robots. “Just keep…going strong…with whatever it is…that’s compelling you on.” Xo metriclovesyou

4. Florence + the Machine perform on Good Morning America

Florence + the Machine appeared on Good Morning America to perform “Ship to Wreck” and “What Kind of Man” from their new album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful as well as their breakthrough single “Dog Days Are Over.” In April, Florence Welch broke her foot, which caused the band  to make their shows at the time “stripped back.” However, based on Welch’s energy and movement in these performances, the recovery process seems to be going well.

5. Pixies perform new song “Um Chagga Lagga”

Last week, Pixies debuted “Um Chagga Lagga” at their Beacon Theatre show in New York. On Tuesday, Rolling Stone released a video of the band playing the new track, which has not been recorded yet. Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments!
