The Rare Occasions, your 2014 Rock Hunt champions, stopped by the station for a special highly-anticipated stripped-down set. Despite battling a cold, Brian and Jeremy performed the band’s meticulous tracks with extreme precision and clean execution. They started the night with the ethereal and wistful “Silhouettes” from their 2013 release Applefork. We were then treated to their first live performance of “Aglow,” a haunting winter-themed track recorded for the Tegmental Holiday EP. Their set ended with “La Mort,” which starts out with a lullaby-esque verse and crescendos to show off the band’s powerful musicianship.
Behind the scenes, the BRU crew sang along during soundcheck and chatted with Brian and Jeremy about sandwiches, #TheDress (for the record, they both saw white and gold), the disco ball that the station has for some reason (check out @therareoccasions on Instagram to see what we mean), and even net neutrality.
Check out their amazing performances below and be sure to watch the interview to see what the Rare Occasions have been up to since their Rock Hunt victory. You can even check out their great energy in person at their Rock Hunt show at Newport Blues Cafe on March 13!
