Exposure: Renewed and Reborn

GOOD EVENING PROVIDENCE! Stuth here, dropping in to welcome you WBRU’s brand new Exposure and tell you a little bit about its format. Ever since I joined the BRU Crew, I had the dream of making Exposure a themed segment, with each day having a different theme and each song played on that day fitting within that theme. Here is a summary of what this shift means for your WBRU Exposure experience:     1. The Song Remains the Same.  Exposure is still all about new music, playing songs that you won’t hear any other time of the day, and “alternative alternative”. Just as the name suggests, the goal of Exposure is to shine some light on all music. Indie. Electronic. Folk. Rock. A little bit of everything Alternative. And when I say everything, I mean everything. 😉     2. All We Ever Wanted Was Everything. I was always fan of a little bit of loose structure to know what to expect and when to expect it. (Not to say there won’t be a fair dose of surprise, but anyway). This idea is coming to Exposure. Each one of the four days of WBRU’s Exposure now has its own basic theme: Mellow Mondays – Its a lot nicer to ease your way into the week rather than dive in headfirst. That’s what Mellow Mondays are all out. Laid-back. Easy-going. Expect anything from low key electronic music to folk music to who knows what. Time Travel Tuesdays – I know you’ve had that feeling before. You hear a song from a band and all you want to do is find out a way to get your hands on everything they’ve ever made? Thats what Time Travel Tuesdays are all about. 2 artists who you’ve heard on BRU before are picked to be our guides as we explore as much of their discography as we can in 30 minutes. This is what Exposure is all about, exposing an artist as much as possible. Wacky Wednesday – In the middle of the week, you need a pick-me-up. You need something to push you through to the weekend. And thus, Wacky Wednesdays were born. Heavier tracks. More lively songs. Pretty much the opposite of Mellow Mondays. Boom boom boom. Themed Thursday – Your wild card day. While it starts out as the most open day every week, it will usually end up being the most specific. Whether the nominees for an award were just announced, or there’s a big show coming up, or I just want to focus on a specific genre, Themed Thursday will have a unique theme that is all its own every week.     3. Your Alternative. You may think WBRU is all about music. This is true. However, WBRU is also all about you. After all, without you, who would we have to play music for? That being said, Exposure is all about you as well. Ask questions. Tell us what you want to hear. Tell us what you don’t want to hear. You can post comments on each Exposure post.
