Best of Exposure: July 21-24 Saint Pepsi- Fiona Coyne Remember last week when we added Jungle to the list of bands that have gone on a full nostalgia trip, 80s style? Let’s welcome Saint Pepsi to the club! Groovy again! Bonus nostalgia: Fiona Coyne is named after the Degrassi character Wunder Wunder- Coastline Feel free to also check out the Goldroom Remix and the Gigamesh Remix while you’re at it. (Two remixes for two Wunders.) Pixies- Greens and Blues This track is off Indie Cindy, their latest album since Trompe Le Monde (1991). Here’s a quick review of what was going on in 1991 incase you’ve forgotten: The Silence of the Lambs comes out in theaters, Prince Charles and Princess Diana split, Cholera breaks out in Peru… damn, that’s a lot of dark stuff. Maybe that’s why it took them 23 years to make this new album. Then again, the world wide web also became available in ’91, so it could have just been 23 years of procrastination. Alvvays- Archie, Marry Me Pronounced “Always,” this Canadian band has some impressive pedigree. Front-woman, Molly Rankin, got her start in the famous Canadian-Folk Family Band, The Rankin Family. Time Magazine actually did a whole story on her, chalk full of metaphors like, her voice as “pure as spring water.” tl;dr They like her! Phox- Kingfisher They’re playing Newport Folk today… But I’m not there… So I’ll listen to this song on repeat and pretend! French Style Furs – Solitary Life Coldwar Kids + We The Barbarians = French Style Furs! Commemorate this joyous union with some free merch. You can win their album, Exotic Bait, a t-shirt, and a matchbook by entering this giveaway! (If you win, you owe me the matchbook) Roadkill Ghost Choir- Slow Knife They may be the palest Floridians I’ve ever seen and their ‘band interests’ on Facebook are simply, “long hair.” Check out that long hair swaying on stage when they played Letterman and get psyched for their album, In Tongues, debuting August 19th. Tokyo Police Club- Hot Tonight You know ’em, you love ’em, they were just at the Sinclair in Boston, here are some photos in case you missed ’em. AWOLNATION- Thiskidsnotalright The band got its name because founder, Aaron Bruno, used to skip high school so much that he was dubbed Awol by his friends. …SAIL Today the Moon, Tomorrow the Sun- Walls They look like a fantastic band to see live. With 1,500 views at the time of posting this, that video deserves a lot more attention. When it blows up we can reminisce about their days on Exposure!

If you are lucky enough to see Phox at Newport Folk Fest today, please brag about it in the comments below
